Apache
Analysed
Inside the helicopter simulator: its landscapes, machines, and a few things left on the discs.
We've taken Apache Longbow apart and rebuilt it for modern computers. Here are some of our favourite finds, with tools to explore the game for yourself.

Take a closer look
Turn a model over, follow a mission, or look around the cockpit.

Aircraft and everything around them ↗
Helicopters, vehicles, ships and scenery. Switch detail levels and see how the parts fit together.

Follow the battle across the map ↗
Briefings, routes, formations and scenery, brought together in an interactive atlas.

A cockpit in pieces ↗
See the original pilot and gunner artwork, including a panorama of all five views.

The little man in the editor ↗
A development tool left on the disc: play its walking, kneeling and signalling sequences.

Working artwork
That's not an Apache cockpit.
An F-16 screenshot and a stick figure turned up in a palette file. Earlier discs have a completely different picture. The surviving export tools explain why either would do the job.

Apache C++ reconstructs the original game. Apache Redux adds higher resolutions, adjustable field of view and longer model detail distances.
