Cockpit exhibit

Pictures inside pictures.

The canopy, lower panel, instrument sprites and live displays each have their own drawing rules. Treating the whole cockpit as one image loses some useful distinctions.

TFX's reconstructed virtual cockpit with its original textured instrument panels
The virtual cockpit’s screen faces use the original static artwork. Live MFDs are a separate path.

Black is sometimes a colour.

The canopy overlays are compiled drawing programs. We executed them and kept both the colour and a coverage mask: a deliberately painted black pixel must hide the view, while an untouched pixel leaves it visible.

Air-to-air refuelling has its own cockpit models. Earlier promotional screenshots show the MFD artwork changing during development, including weapons information on the other side.

This recovered drawing program contains recognisable Inferno cockpit artwork.

The instrument examples execute original drawing routines with declared test inputs. They are not screenshots of a naturally flown mission. Inspect the complete cockpit research ↗
